his is my little visual introduction to my world. I have many talents that range from traditional photography to multi-media interaction. I even do motion picture work and simple animation. My goal here is to provide for you the experience that I have and the hopes to add more to my ever-growing desire to learn.

I have a background rooted in the fine arts from my formal training at Stephen Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. There I trained under many great teachers who have passed on to me their knowledge and experience. I have full knowledge in cinematography where I learned how to produce from start to finish any number of creative works from 8mm to HD digital video. I have full experience from the basics of darkroom development to digital photo correction using Photoshop. The still camera is my favorite. It is usually just me and my environment. I can be completely in control with all of my surroundings when out capturing life as it happens. Studio work is just as exciting but I have not always had the ability to use a studio with a controlled environment. Since my formal introduction to the digital world and how so many programs can be used to create an infinite number of creations, I choose to self-educate in the software that only becomes more and more endless (just when I thought endless was infinite). I have also been lucky enough to be introduced to the world of printmaking. This would be my week point since I do not have readily available access to the equipment. But once again, the possibilities are infinite. The use of multi-media such as crossing over photography with intaglio print can be one of many processes that I would use. And there are so many different types of paper. I have formal training in pencil drawing and life drawing. I have studied art history and been able to travel to see the wonderful art the Italian Renaissance artists have left behind for us to ponder. All of this wrapped together to produce in such a way that utilizes aspects of design, space, gesture, asymmetry, layout, motif, shading, texture, and any other descriptor of art whether for industrial or pure aesthetical beauty. I thirst for more.

Which is how I wound up back in school for a formal education in the culinary arts. The Texas Culinary Academy in Austin, Texas has given me a taste of the complex world that is culinary art. The usage of organic products to produce a stunning array of beautiful and edible items. My studies went from the basics of food handling to presentation. How to take the essence of the item straight from the Earth and change it, arrange it, and organize it in such a way that is fully scientific in approach, yet defined by process to make something that once was undesirable into that which is irresistible. And in so many ways more than traditional art which usually can only be described by four senses, I can now add a fifth.

Next chapter in my lifebook is currently in the middle of a graduate degree. I am enrolled in the Masters of Education program at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. I currently have my certificate to teach Art at any level including Junior college. My minor is in Art Education. I have just been inducted into the Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education, Eta Zeta chapter. I hope to make many contacts through this organization to help me provide a strong education for my art students. This will also allow me to continue my own education as well. I think that it is very important for educators to be on top of the technology integration and to be abreast of the new developments in society.
